Men’s Health Australia

Men’s Health Australia is a fantastic online resource for the wellbeing of both men and boys, concerning social and psychological wellbeing.

While not regularly updated, this website’s article section still contains abundant information that is extremely useful for men.

The range of male issues they cover in their articles is vast – including information on fathers, elders, boys, disabilities, sport, relationships & marriage, and work.

The events category is perhaps the most updated sector. This provides the latest event listings for men that they can participate in or support.

Overall, while not the most updated site, Men’s Health Australia provides men with reliable and handy information concerning their wellbeing.

Men’s Shed

The Australian Men’s Shed Association is funded by the Federal Department of Health and offers excellent men’s wellbeing resources

As the name suggests, it has a friendly community, articles and atmosphere dedicated to helping men reach optimal health and reducing the men who are at risk from preventable health issues.

They have collaborated with national, state, territory and health-related community services, including Beyond Blue, Heart Foundation, Department of Veteran Affairs, Cancer Council and many more.

With these strategic partnerships, they have gone on to develop the aforementioned resources and additionally, a variety of national initiatives.

One of the national initiatives, in particular, is the “Spanner In The Works?” project, a men’s health screening program designed to engage men, provide health screening, improve health literacy and to provide health information.

On ASMA’s website, you can also find regularly updated news and events, their social media and contact information, a link to join the ASMA, a “shed locator” if you are a registered member of the ASMA, and more information about them and what they stand for.

Go give them a look and tell me what you think.

Healthy Male (Andrology Australia)

Healthy Male, previously known as Andrology Australia, is a national organisation providing easy access to a range of resources, including the latest scientific and medical research concerning a male’s reproductive and sexual health.

Their vision is to see a healthier life for all men and boys, with a mission to promote excellent health and wellbeing in all aspects of life through an evidence-based approach.

On their website, you can easily find topics on men’s health. If you are concerned for your reproductive or sexual health, you can find useful and relevant information on those subjects here – all scientifically and medically researched to ensure reliability.

You can also take a look at the “news” section to read up on their latest articles, and you can subscribe to their monthly newsletter to keep you updated on their most recent articles.

With this newsletter, you can submit questions through the “Ask the Doc segment” to receive answers, links to further readings, and information on available resources.

I think this is quite a neat idea to get you engaged and, therefore, discover more about your wellbeing.

Beyond Blue – Men’s Wellbeing Resources

One of the most widely recognised online health resources for people struggling with depression, anxiety disorders, suicide and other mental health disorders is Beyond Blue.

They are an Australian public company, limited by guarantee. The members are the Commonwealth of Australia and each Australian State and Territory.

Beyond Blue offers many services and resources for men (and everyone). You can call them, chat online, email them, or participate in their online forums to get the answers you are looking for. There is always help available on Beyond Blue.

They aim to equip everyone in Australia with the knowledge, skills and support to protect their own mental health and to give people with anxiety and depression the confidence to take their lives back.

They have a dedicated page for men’s health concerning depression and anxiety, stating that “men are known for bottling things up”.

In other words, it can get too much sometimes, and it’s important to know when to take action if you feel stress, anxiety, and worrying thoughts are becoming too much for you to bear.

If you feel like you’re struggling with these feelings of depression, anxiety or suicidal tendencies, I implore you to see what Beyond Blue can do for you. Their resources and information are unparalleled.

Australian Men’s Health Forum

The Australian Men’s Health Forum (AMHF) considers themselves as “the peak body for men’s health in Australia”.

Their determination and values are backed on research that proves the best way for a man to improve his health is to challenge the underlying social factors, such as boys’ education, fatherhood experiences, working lives, and social connections.

AMHF is the centre of a network of individuals and organisations collaborating to challenge and resolve these factors that have such a major influence on men’s health.

On their website, you’ll find abundant resources, the latest news, events and ways you can connect with others.

You can also donate via their website to support their cause, sign up to receive free men’s health updates via email, and you can contact them with any inquiries.
